Mad Men Yourself

Pick out a dress, pretty yourself up, and download the result as an icon or desktop wallpaper: Mad Men Yourself. Here's what I would look like as a Sterling Cooper secretary... I think I could give Joan a run for her money, non?

p.s - the big news... yes, that's about me!

Club Monaco :: Statement Blazer

Hello statement blazer.  Earlier this spring I discussed wanting a cut away blazer for the Fall and I think this blazer might be exactly what I’ve been waiting for.  While it will not replace my desire for a cape coat, it is something I can wear on heavy rotation for work, and dressed down on Fridays or on the weekend with a cute denim skirt.  Extra points for being preppy and the perfect shade of grey!  Gold stars to Club Monaco for revisiting the classics for Fall.

Save or Splurge?

Two years ago I bought the most beautiful blush pink elbow length calf-skin leather gloves and I have yet to wear them because I don’t have a cape.  I’ve been looking for a cape coat with a traditional bell sleeve, a belted waist, and in a colour other than black.  Paul and Joe released the most beautiful cape for fall that meets all my requirements, except the price.  Anthropologie has also released a version for fall that is very similar and very affordable. The P&J version is a bit more refined and classically chic, however the collar on the Anthropologie jacket is to die for.  Should I save or splurge?

Kate Spade Debut!

Holy Mack! Have you seen the new Kate Spade collection? I'm so in love with each of these pieces but if I had to pick just one, it would be the Madeleine Mona Coat (top left). I'm considering selling a kidney so I can justify owning that coat...

Mastering the Art of French Cooking

On Saturday the Dr and I went to see Julie and Julia. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was awesome and I left the theatre feeling so inspired that I went out the very next day and found a hardcover edition of Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child. First up is Julia's famous Boeuf Bourguignon!

I can't resist

Ok so these aren't actually my new converse.... But if I ever found a pair of these I wouldn't be able to resist owning them. They are absolutely adorable; almost as adorable as the blog I found them on.

Call me crazy...

Call me crazy but does this not remind you of a sweet little housedress that would have been worn in the 50’s? At 86$ CDN I’m seriously considering buying it, shortening the front hem (to make the length even all around), sewing on a few extra snaps, and wearing it as a day dress, belted, with a cute pair of purple flats. It would work, non?

Something new...

I start my first sewing class tonite and I couldn't be more excited and nervous all at the same time. I can already sew the small things like pillows and aprons, but a few professional lessons can never hurt. I'm starting small but I'm hoping that by Christmas I'll be able to follow a basic pattern and sew a few cute pieces for next summer.

Step Inside :: Kate Spade 5th Avenue

As if the Kate Spade empire wasn’t perfect enough already, they recently redesigned the flagship store on 5th Avenue and seriously, it’s the cutest, most perfect store, EVER.  Here is what they had to say about the redesign {as posted in Behind the Curtain}:
“Swept in from the street by a series of brilliant stripes, guests are led into a cozy foyer and seating area as the pattern crosses the floor and ascends the wall as fanciful wallpaper.  Vintage furniture and throw pillows mix with some of our favourite collectibles, including books, lomo cameras, colourful candy cocktail rings… as well as some of our summer handbags, all available for purchase”.

I want to go to there!

Green With Envy

It’s cold outside and I’m already starting to think about my fall wardrobe. I posted about this dress two Friday’s ago and I’m still very much in love with it.  There is something about it that makes me think of Joan from Man Men.  For all you Mad Men fans, the third season is scheduled to begin August 16, 2009.

Happy Holiday

Today is a holiday and finally, finally, we have some sun! The Dr and I will spending a good portion of the morning in the car so comfortable but chic clothes are a must. This dress from Toast would be perfect with sandals and a belt and a big pair of sunglasses.
